It is a fact that most of us these days suffer from sleeping problems.  It may be caused by anything from stress, work overload, worries and anxieties or simply the kind of lifestyle we live.  We get into the habit of sleeping at a certain time at night and even during daytime that once our body has adjusted to this particular time routine, it becomes a bit tough to identify whether we actually did get the quality sleep we needed.

Health wise, depriving ourselves of the quality time for asleep do have its long term effect on our body. It may not be apparent instantly, but the following side effects will emerge sooner or later should lack of sleep be experience more often.

  1. Dizziness.  This is the most common effect among people suffering from lack of sleep.  This is usually evident when the person has experienced lack of sleep for several days.
  2. Moodiness and Irritability.  Similar to experiencing hunger pangs, one becomes grouchy from lack of sleep.
  3. Nausea.  One encounters this symptom following the dizzy spells.
  4. Shaking or trembling.  This is usually felt due to muscle weakness.

Though most of us occasionally have a bout with poor quality sleep and live through these consequences, however, there are more serious side effects resulting from sleep deprivation that needs once immediate attention.  Hence, it is best to take all precautionary measures such as seeking medical advice right away should one feel any unusual symptoms after experiencing sleep deprivation.  As Benjamin Franklin said, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
